Facilities/Venues Available to hire
Our sports and recreational hire facilities at Llanwern High School are excellent and wide-ranging. The Governing Body regards the school premises as a community asset and make every effort to enable them to be used as much as possible.
The Outdoor Facilities which are available to hire are:
Grass Pitch 1
This is a fully floodlit football pitch with goals, measuring 100m x 63m
Grass Pitch 2
Our second football pitch is not currently floodlit, has goals and measures 96m x 60m
Grass Pitch 3
The school’s rugby pitch, with posts, measures 85m x 60m (not floodlit)
3G Pitch 1
Our 3G sports pitch has been completely refurbished in the summer of 2023. We now have a new shockpad and a new TigerTurf Atomic Pro 60 surface, certified to FIFA Quality, FIFA Quality Pro and World Rugby Reg. 22. The pitch is floodlit and measures 99m x 58m
3G Pitch 2
Our smaller 3G pitch is also floodlit and is a half-size pitch, ideal for junior teams (up to 11 for rugby matches) and training
Other Outdoor FacilitiesWe also have an outdoor basketball court, a netball court and tennis courts.
The Indoor Facilities available to hire are:
Sports Hall
We have a large sports hall, ideal for 5-a-side football, basketball, netball, badminton, keep fit, martial arts, volleyball and many other activities. Any goals / nets / hoops are included within our booking prices. The sports hall measures 33m x 18m
Dance / Activity Studio
The school has a professionally equipped dance studio with a wall of mirrors and a sprung floor. The Dance / Activity Studio measures 16.6m x 10.4m, with floor to ceiling height of 7.7m
Atrium / Function / Events Space
The Atrium is a large, airy, open room with a vaulted ceiling, where the children dine. The Atrium lends itself for use in a variety of functions. A sound system and small / large projector are also available. The floor area measures 30m x 20m
School Hall
We have a large school hall that is equipped with a stage, announcement podium, lighting and sound system and is ideal for concerts, theatre productions and conferences. Seating (in theatre style) is for 200+. The School Hall measures 18.3m x 14.5m (floor area) and 12.4m x 6.2m (stage area)
Lecture Theatre
Our lecture theatre has fixed, tiered seating for up to 90 people and is an ideal area for public meetings, conferences and presentations. The lecture theatre is equipped with a sound system, projector and large screen along with an announcement podium. The Lecture Theatre measures 10.8m x 8.7m
During term-time, our facilities are available to hire seven days a week, as follows:
- Monday – Thursday 5pm to 9pm
- Friday 5pm to 8pm
- Saturday 8:30am to 4pm
- Sunday 9am to 4pm
Additionally, out of term-time, the school is available to let during the day, Monday to Friday.
The school has ample, free, car parking on site, a number of wooden benches are dotted throughout the school grounds and are free to use with any site hire and wi-fi coverage is very good all around the school, including much of our outdoor areas.
