Year 9 Careers Event
March 7th, 2014 by Sarah Turnham
On Thursday 20th February our Year 9 students took part in a careers afternoon to help support them in making their option choices for KS4 and to raise their awareness of the world of work.
The afternoon started with a presentation on behalf of the Welsh Government on the benefits of apprenticeships, this included a talk from a former Llanwern High School pupil Lewis LLoyd who is an apprenticeship ambassador. Following this students divided up in to groups and attended a variety of workshops which included:-
- New Directions – Health Care Services
- Newport City Homes
- Costain – Engineering
- KIGG – Manufacturing (100% export)
