Year 8 Trip to BBC Broadcasting House in London

October 23rd, 2015 by Sarah Turnham

Some of our Year 8 students were selected to go to London as VIP’s and visit the new BBC Broadcasting House.  The pupils were selected last year when they were in Year 7 for their outstanding attendance (100%), for taking part in extra curricular clubs including drama, choir and film club.  The 30 pupils were guests of journalist and broadcasters Jim Frank and Simon Cox from BBC Radio 4. During the tour the pupils visited the Radio 1 studios including the Live Lounge where pupils performed a song and then the Radio 4 studios where they experienced first hand what it is like to edit and record a radio programme. Pupils then met Huw Edwards for a Q&A and group photograph. Special thanks to Jim and Simon for their generosity and warm welcome. During the afternoon they also visited the Natural History Museum.  An Awesome day was had by all.
